Not a good day

We drove up to the vets. They are an excellent vets , just wish they werent 20 miles away.
Fletch was whisked away for blood tests and the results were ready with 15 minutes ( unlike the NHS !)

The results were not good.. in fact they were devastatingly bad. He has final stage kidney disease and the deterioration in just over a week has been rapid.

I knew what we had to decide but I coiodnt bring myself to do it today.  We  arranged a date after Easter.

We stopped half way home to give him a walk and it was then I realised how bad he was. Always a stoic character he began to walk uncomplainingly but it was obvious he was not well. I carried him back to the car.
Back home he was hungry and ate lots.. a  ice change but it was obvious how weary he is.
He has grown so painfully thin and and its heartbreaking to see

We phoned the vet.
Tomorrow  it's time to say goodbye
