Goodbye

Fletch slept on our bed last night . I held him and stroked him and he was relaxed.
Waking up this morning knowing what we had to do was hard. He was quite lively when he first woke but soon got tired. He has remained uncomplaining and stoic despite obviously not well. This cruel disease has taken effect rapidly

We arrived too early at the vets but we sat in the car with him and stroked him and told him we loved him. He looked so weary and we knew we were doing the right thing.

The vet was so very kind and didnt rush anything. We sat in a little room with a sofa and he lay next to me and gently went to sleep.

I am bereft . I cant stop crying . We are both devastated.  This loving larger than life character has been our constant companion for 14 and a half years.
The house is empty without him.
