Wet flowers
I was trying to photograph kestrels with the long lens again, unsuccessfully. The lens was clearly totally inappropriate for these flowers -- I had to stand about two metres away -- but I think it worked pretty well.
Yesterday evening I watched O Brother, Where Art Thou? as recommended by Sara. It's completely mad and very funny -- it was obvious they really enjoyed making it. It's somewhat distantly based on the Odyssey (well, it features a blind seer, a monster one-eyed villain, some sirens, and an abandoned wife called Penny). You just have to go with all the wacky twists and turns. Who but the Coen brothers could make a film where you burst out laughing when the KKK make an appearance? The cinematography! And the music! Such a treat. Although the southern accents were so thick I was often glad of the Spanish subtitles.
An uneventful day ... I went into town to see someone at the bank, but it turned out that they had no record of my appointment, which I made a fortnight ago, and the person I wanted to see wasn't available. Sigh. I made another appointment so I could see that it was actually put on the system. It wasn't a wasted journey anyway, because I did some necessary supermarket shopping that I've been putting off. I can make fizzy water again now. And I also took the opportunity to buy some more lovely gariguette strawberries for my lunch. Later I made some low-carb apple muffins using the banana that was slowly turning brown in the fruit bowl and a couple of eggs past their best before date. They make a handy guilt-free snack.
And now it's raining again. It must be topping up the reservoirs!
