Climbing ..

and another picnic, in the woods this time.
Late morning we headed across Bath to Rainbow Woods.
Somewhere Jude quite often goes with daddy on her bike whilst Eda is at her Saturday morning drama class. She takes her bike and goes ‘off roading’!

It’s a little way on the other side of the valley and you pass through the woods on the Bath Skyline walk which Chris and I did a couple of summers ago. It’s just above Prior Park which I suspect will have owned these woods at one time. Chris and I made the mistake of leaving the path to take in a visit to Prior Park which was good as they had National Trust refreshments and loos but bad as the route back to the Skyline path was almost vertical, or it felt like it!

Today the girls had lots of opportunities for clmbing. I thought the roots of these trees were magnificent and they loved climbing up them! I haven’t zoomed in as I love the roots and you can see the scale.

We walked further along to Long Wood where there are fairy door trails and a great adventure style playground, everything fashioned from wood. Here they found a tree stump to climb. Eda’s turn for a hat today!
We also found some benches and tables for a picnic. Really hit today even in the dappled shade pf the wood so I sought out some shade.

Lots of playing and then a return to Larkhall fur some provisions including some deli pastries for our late lunch and I got a take away coffee. The girls we’re happy as they each got something from the ‘magic shop’ and an ice cream to take home and eat in the garden.

Lots of woodland Spring flowers including my first bluebells, wood anemones and, rather surprisingly my first opportunity to photograph lambs. Extra

I was awake early and therefore saw John heading down the garden path with his bike at 5.43. It was just getting light.
His bike is covered in leopards print tape as he is going with a group of 15 ‘Lads in Leopard print ’. They are fundraising by cycling King Alfred’s Way - 366k over three days. John was also cycling from the train the 20k to the start. It will be hot for them today. Some are staying in travelodges but he is heading for campsites and sleeping in a sleeping bag and bivi bag! It could be pretty chilly. If I get a picture I will post it, I only have one of the bike
