Pheasant's Eye
Also called the Poet's Narcissus, Narcissus poeticus. It's the plant associated with the myth of Greek hero Narcissus - in some stories - fell in love with his own reflection. The character of Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a self-centered personality style. This quality in extreme contributes to the definition of narcissistic personality disorder, marked by grandiosity, excessive need for attention and admiration, and an inability to empathise. Now who does that bring to mind right now??
On a happier note, it's my favourite narcissus. Sixty years ago it grew in profusion in the family garden in London, enjoying the heavy, often wet soil. It also has a lovely distinctive scent. It's the latest daffodil to flower.
Also on a happier note, this is a BlipMeet photo. Lovetrees joined me this evening at Treborth Botanic Gardens for the AGS North Wales Group plants show. Not a big turnout but a gentle evening spent in good company and deemed a success by all who attended. Aside from the event, we walked Meg in the garden before and after sunset which gave us time for a natter which is always nice :-)
