Last Train To …
After yesterday’s Fuji no-show, we woke to blue skies but there was no time to head back up the mountain in the hope of a glimpse as we had to get a train back to Narita Airport for our flight back home tomorrow.
There was time for a final stroll around Hakone, where there was plenty of blossom on show.
While we were on the platform at Odawara 2 or 3 bulletin trains came thundering through the station at top speed. They really do make the ground tremble and have come and gone before you know it. These Shinkansen have transported us speedily, comfortably and reliably around the country for the last 3 weeks and have been a major part of a wonderful experience.
Ours got us to Tokyo in less than 40 minutes, where we transferred to the Narita Express to the airport, where we stayed at an airport hotel
