I enjoyed my tea

My Saturday afternoon got highjacked when a friend called to say she had a ticket for me to join her at the Kamloops CanGo Grannies High Tea. We met at a large church on the south shore at 12:30 PM.
The tea was a fund-raiser for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. This foundation grew out of Stephen Lewis' work as Canada's United Nations Ambassador and later, his position as the United Nations' special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa. (2000-2006).

The Stephen Lewis Foundation spawned the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign in 2006. It came in response to the hardships and challenges facing aging women in Africa who were left to care for their orphaned grandchildren with little or no support. Our local group, the Kamloops CanGo Grannies began in 2006. More than $40 million has been raised in support by groups in Canada, Australia, U.K. and USA.
Besides a wonderful tea and good company, we enjoyed a silent auction, a live auctions, a magic show and the music of a local cellist. Local businesses, artists and companies donated generously to the auctions. The work of the Kamloops CanGo Grannies continues.
