I'm slow-moving this
morning, with hopes the weather
will improve and soon!

We had a wild and windy night. Noises woke me and the security lights flashed on and off in the wind. I was up early but took a look at the sky and rolled back into bed for more sleep.
I left the house after 10, a very late start for me, but the sky was brighter and the wind had died down. I headed off to McArthur Island in search of marmots. As I backed my car out onto the cul de sac I spotted two naughty does munching on my neighbours' tulips. I told them they were being bad, but they simply turned tail and walked away.
At the turn for the park a cyclist rolled off the sidewalk right in front of me. I discovered that amazing automatic breaking system my car has - the red lights flashed on the dash and the car stopped almost on its end. My camera and purse launched off the front seat but no harm done. Lucky for the cyclist!
I got a shot of the Thompson River on this grey day. It's low and slow-moving like me. I found a pair of American Wigeons cruising the slough. No females, just the males to be seen. They must be moving north as we don't see them here during the breeding season.
No marmots appeared for me along the river. I walked a bit on the trail and waited, but they were not to be found this morning. A new sign along the path instructs the public about their care.
I found one lonely Canada goose on the river. I understand that they mate for life, so perhaps a mate has been lost. All others are obviously paired up.
I've got an appointment mid afternoon, but otherwise the day is mine. It's still feeling chilly so it will be an inside day for me.
