A really special day
I didn’t quite know which to show as an extra and which as main. I spent the sunny morning pottering around the garden, feeling pleased with the beauty of it, rather than working hard… These tulips don’t last long, but while they’re here, they’re a real showstopper I think.
Then my opposite neighbour knocked and we went to football. Bristol City played really well, it was so exciting to watch. They scored two goals just in front of our seats. And they beat Watford, which is very significant as it meant they crept up into the playoff places, with a minuscule chance of going up to the Premier league. Plenty of heartbreak and disappointment to come, I think! For a start, they have to stay in sixth place, with 6 matches to go. Then they’d have to beat two of the other playoff teams, including Leeds. So it’s all very unlikely. But the roaring and cheering and applause and general excitement of 21 thousand city fans was something to experience. I realise this is all nonsense if you don’t follow football, I get that.
Then onto another special event. My next door neighbour K is Mexican. Or she was…. Now after much hard work and studying she is also a British citizen. And such an asset - she was a nursery worker (children, not plants) and is now partway to her qualifications as a nutritionist, with a special interest in supporting pre-diabetic people to avoid the disease. So we are lucky to get her. I also met quite a few members of her partners family, including his mum, who is a real kindred spirit. His aunt made the cake in the extra - yes a mixture of flowers, herbs, fresh fruit and chocolate eggs! - which tasted as good as it looks. An all round fine day.
