Bring your own banner
The South Koreans I mentioned on Wednesday visited our church this morning. The Rev Dr John Ross was an elder here for the last 10 years until his death in 1915.
They viewed the plaques we have in the wall and various gifts were exchanged. They had even prepared their own banner - see extra - for the visit as a backdrop to the various photos which were taken. It felt like being at a wedding there were so many permutations.
Despite the language barrier with only two or three with some English ( and no Korean on our part!) we had an enjoyable time. Refreshments included butteries, hot cross buns and shortbread from the north east of Scotland near to where John Ross grew up. (One of our elders had been in the area a day or so ago).
The weather, sadly, was cold and grey. 9oC as the haar was in most of the day - while the rest of the country basked in sunshine.
