Nicky and her Nikon

Can you see my bat chest?

Today was meant to be the hottest day of the year so far, but it was quite gusty so it never felt too hot for me. I was up early and I got the train to Wimbledon to go to the hospital for my MRI scan. The journey is only 19 minutes each way, I was in a new, clean train, and the cost of my return ticket (with my railcard) was only £6.60 - a much better option as the nearest parking near the hospital was £11.80, and with the the cost of fuel and the angst of traffic it was a no brainer to go by train.

I was a little nervous for the MRI scan as I had heard it is so loud and one feels very claustrophobic. It really was no big deal at all. The radiographers were two young Australian men, they were very friendly and explained everything to me. I was given earplugs and headphones, and they offered to put music on - but then forgot to switch the music on, which wasn't a problem as I I had the ear plugs and the noise was okay. I reckon for very large people the MRI 'tunnel' can make you feel very claustrophobic, it is fairly narrow, but for me it was fine. They forgot to give me a blanket so I got a bit cold but it did not take long, about 20 minutes so it was over fairly quickly.

After that I had a cappuccino at Pret and then went shopping for dresses, thinking if I saw something suitable I would buy it for the graduations tomorrow - but nothing appealed to me and I realised what I had at home in my wardrobe was better!

After lunch I took Xena for another walk in the woods - owners of Hungarian Vizslas like to joke that their muscular dogs have bat markings on their chests, like Batman - here Xena is showing off her bat chest.

I need to pack a few things as we leave early tomorrow morning to go to Cambridge. I really am looking forward to seeing Adam again. It will be a bit of a rushed weekend as tomorrow there is a tight schedule of dress rehearsals for the graduands, then the procession from the college to Senate house for the graduation ceremony which is quite long and requires sensible shoes to be worn, then the graduation, followed by drinks and then dinner out. Adam is also quite stressed trying to finish off some experiments in his old lab for a paper that is being published, so he has no rest time at all.

Xena is staying with Fiona for the weekend, she will be very happy about that.
