The Dancer
This morning I went into Chichester for a yoga practice. The session was with my usual teacher but as she won’t be holding a class tomorrow (the one I usually attend) she had offered me a space in one of her sessions today - held in a community hall in the renovated and converted military police barracks on the edge of town.
I had left plenty of time so I could have a relaxed walk in the sunshine up to the community centre, past the Festival Theatre and through several parks. Outside the theatre I found this expressive bronze statue of a dancer in the role of Spartacus, from the ballet by Aram Khachaturian (1903 - 1978) and inspired by the Bolshoi Ballet performance in London. I was rather taken with it.
The class was enjoyable and from it we had a pleasant view of a large green where children were playing and dogs being exercised. It was interesting to experience the same teacher giving a class in a different setting with different people. I also enjoyed my short exploration of an area of Chichester I’ve only visited a few times previously.
I returned home in time for lunch and spent the afternoon catching up with jobs at home. Andy had spent the morning at the dentist and giving Merlin two walks!
