Not Chester
Our wedding anniversary! We'd planned to get up early to catch a train to spend the day in Chester, a place that neither of us has visited before. But it was not to be. Last night I thought I had a little bit of an upset tummy, and this morning it became evident that it wouldn't be a good idea to venture out on public transport...
So we pottered around at home. I was perfectly fine after about 9.30, so this evening we ventured into Holmfirth to the Old Bridge Inn, where we enjoyed a meal. In the absence of any other photos, this was my main course - 'chalk stream trout' on a bed of cous cous, with artichokes and capers. Very nice it was too. As was the gluten-free black forest gateau!
After that we walked next door to the Picturedrome bar, where James was performing at the open mic. Very grateful to James and S who offered us a lift home afterwards - the hill would have seemed like Everest after that meal!
Chester remains on our ever-increasing list of places to go...
