Ladies Who Lunch..

.. and talk for hours afterward! 

I had lunch today with three friends who are also former colleagues from my teaching days. We are all women of a certain age....so our conversation, as usual, was mostly about  "How did we ever get this old?"  and "Remember when " 

We always have lots to talk about - so many wonderful memories of good times shared... and of course bad times too. For some, the road to get to this age has been a bumpy one, overcoming life-threatening illnesses, divorce, the loss of loved ones...but we have all made it! 

As my doctor says.."Be grateful - not everyone gets the chance to be old." 

One thing we all agreed on today was that we had hit the jackpot by being born when we were...We were the blip of the baby boom..and we have pretty much been able to cruise through life. I won't list all the reasons but let it be said that we had opportunities that those coming behind us did not have. And we are grateful.

Still, it is hard to believe that we four are at, beyond or close to 80 now. and we are surprised! Really? How can that BE? 80? Already? But there is so much more we want to do! 

We had better start making plans...Who's up for a trip to France? Italy?  What about Spain? Portugal? ....OK, .Lunch?
