Waiting on Platform 5 at Victoria

Well, we eventually left 4 hours late having, after everything else, waited in line for takeoff for ages. We were so long crawling on the taxi runway it felt like we were driving to London.

We did begin to wonder if Chris would have to come back to the airport and collect me for an extra night. He was charging his car!

Quite a turbulent flight. We picked up a little time arriving at Heathrow at 14.25 instead of 11.25. I managed about 5 hours sleep while listening quietly to loads of podcasts from the Poet Laureate has Gone to his Shed where he chats many different people.

BA, sad to say, is nowhere near as good as it used to be when we first travelled with them in 2012. Hardly any difference in premium economy to economy except the greater legroom which I need. The meal and drinks seem the same except ours were served on proper dishes not foil containers.

With no hold baggage I was off the plane and onto the tube in 35 minutes, up to Victoria and caught the 4.25 train to Bearsted. And you guessed it, delayed by signalling problems(!) in Brixton area and being behind a late running stopping train.

Not much opportunity for a blip today, you’ll have to do with this. Thank you for all your lovely comments over the past days and your good wishes for a safe flight. It was and that’s all that matters.

For the first time ever I missed the opportunity for an April Fool. It was still 31st March in San Diego and by the time we’d landed it was afternoon.

Happy to be home, excited about the coming weeks and months. Sad to leave, waves of emotion sweep over me as I walk towards the check-in desks.
