Our American family

About to start the long journey back to the UK and also the start of the new journey from Kent to Cumbria. We take over the tenancy of our rental tomorrow, 1st April but will not be moving up until early April.

Last few hours with Maddy, Landon and Chris this morning before Maddy went to daycare and Landon to his mum’s for the spring break. Not a backward glance of course! Always a bitter sweet time for me.

What with everything else we’re doing this year I don’t know when the next visit will be. And when we do visit again one thing is for sure, they will have both changed and we’ll have to begin the bonding process all over again.

While Chris was working this morning I went on a last run up into the San Elijo Hills, completing an ascent I didn’t think I could do. But I did, up into the clouds on a drizzly day on the Viewpoint and Double Peak trails high above San Marcos.

Completed the last bit of packing, put the ukulele away until next time with a pair of old running shoes and shaving cream so I don’t have to bring any next time. Said goodbye over a bit of lunch with Elizabeth and her children.

Quick ride to the airport to find flight delayed by 40 minutes. Through security very quickly and airside at the gate within 15 minutes of getting out of the car.

Posting now of the four of us earlier this morning.. I’ve had a lovely visit with more time with Landon than I was expecting. Lovely memories made. I had another cupcake before we left. Still 4 to be eaten.

Edit: 3 hours late departing and counting. Should have left at 16.40, now 19.40. Late incoming and now a generator fault.
