Borrowed

I have two of these house plants given to me by Becky when they were very small.  Recently they've been covered in aphids so I borrowed this ladybird from the garden to see if it would munch its way through them as everything else I've tried, short of spraying them with nasty stuff, hasn't worked.  It turned out ladybird wasn't interested in breakfast so I replaced it in the garden and took Tony's suggestion of putting them outside in the sunshine.  I've just taken them in as the sun dipped and they are looking clearer so hopefully a few days of going out will clear the problem.

With the clocks going forward we've had a quiet day with a slow getting going.  I've weeded the rockery of the plants I can identify as weeds! I've also cleared around the tulips in the border.  There was time to do some prep for the bug hotel afternoon.  Some of the children have sent in suggestions for a name for the hotel: 'Snug as a Bug', 'Premier Innsect', Bugginham Palace - no Buggy McBugface yet thankfully.  I've cut up lengths of willow sticks and filled a bucket with crocks so hopefully we shall have lots of materials to make it snug.  Parents have volunteered to oversee the hammering and sawing; new neighbours are donating refreshment and the weather has been ordered.
