Solace Day 3
Following my habit of exposing electrons "just in case" before we cast off I had a wander along the towpath with the camera. I don't claim to know a lot about Ivy but this is Hedera helix. There is another species Atlantic or Irish Ivy Hedera hibernica. Helix climbs up plants/walls etc hibernica "sprawls along the ground. As this was climbing the hedge I am confident it is H helix.
Strangely we rarely see iy berries near home. I suspect this is because the flowers form on mature plants. The hedges and woods beside the canal will be at least a couple of hundred years old, giving plenty of time for lots of mature plants to have developed.
Still on the S&W canal. Today we saw a very quick flash of a Kingfisher as it shot down the canal and disappeared into vegetation.
