Take Out Some Insurance

Today has been mainly spent on the phone to insurance companies, trying to get a reduction in renewal premiums.
But with only partial success. Motorbike insurance renewal was £110. Best quote from comparison site was £59. Surprise, surprise the existing company were able to reduce their figure to £64, even though absolutely no details had changed. A more cynical person might think that they had a policy of pitching a price £5 above the best comparison quote in the hope that I couldn’t be bothered switching for the sake of a fiver. Sadly, they were right!
The house insurance is another kettle of fish altogether. After an hour on the phone, checking all the details and accepting the suggestion that I switch to the more “up to date” policy, the net change to the premium was…..an increase of £20.
I’m loath to accept that I can’t get it lower, but I’m running out of options. NFU Mutual are supposed to be good at tailor making policies to suit individual’s needs, and I’ve filled out a form with brief details on their website and asked for a call from the local office to discuss what might be available.
I’m not holding my breath though…
