..endeavour to persevere

Street

I've been reading a book on street photography by Brian Lloyd Duckett. It's another world.
We went to Keswick on the bus on Saturday for a few beers and a curry with friends, getting there a couple of hours early, Jess for a bit of shopping therapy and me for a bit of street photo scouting.  We agreed to rendezvous in the Craafty Baa.  I purposely did not take my camera, it was a scouting mission primarily with phone camera to record any potential locations.
I wandered around, it was quite liberating in a way not to have any pressure to get a decent shot with the camera.
In the first image I took (extra) it was not the "street" that first caught me, it was the shape of Causey Pike at the end of the road, it's hard to stop seeing landscapes everywhere I go. When I looked at the composition I realised the yellow lines were nicely leading and the famous george fisher shop was on the corner.. I waited until there were just a couple of people in the shot, the sun was direct in front and difficult but I did like the shadows of the two people..
In the words of Brian Lloyd Ducket this would be more of a "hunters" style, ie wandering around seeking out something.
In the main blip I was sat in the Craafty Bar, the door was wedged open, I happened to be facing Wetherspoons, this couple came out onto the steps for a smoke, it was raining, the girl sat on the left, the boy stood on the right. I liked the composition but there was a constant stream of people either coming out of Spoons faffing about with umbrellas or standing about in the doorway of the Craafty. I was tempted to head out into the street to get a shot but I would probably have lost my seat inside, Keswick was heaving in every hostelry.
Luck was on my side, for some minutes the couple were smoking and chatting, flirting I wondered...  I was unable to get a shot and then suddenly the rabble cleared and the flirting went to another level. A slightly uncomfortable situation but summoning up Brian Lloyd Duckett I went for it..
In the words on BLD this would be more of a "fishing" style, ie set yourself up in position and wait to catch an image. I quite like the fishing style, especially if it can be in a bar with a beer waiting for some action.
Editing was another conundrum, whether to crop out the left and right distractions but I felt it added to the context, I did also consider it mono but the girl's red hair was important I felt to draw the eye with everything else going on..
Any thoughts blippers?
