Living my dream

Mighty fossicking

Shock-horror! When I opened the jar of Marmite to spread some on my breakfast toast it was almost empty.

Marmite is not a nice-to-have Chez M&B. It is an essential. Proper Marmite that is, not the insipid stuff eaten by Kiwis and Aussies.

Real Marmite is imported from the UK under the name 'Mighty' due to patent issues, and is available from various online grocers. A couple of years ago one such was selling off older stocks of Mighty for $2 a jar, ahead the arrival of a big new shipment from the north. I snapped up a couple of dozen jars, and put them somewhere safe until they were needed.

Somewhere safe...aka somewhere completely forgotten. The obvious place to start looking was in the pantry, and as you can see I did find one jar on the top shelf (which is where the overflow items are kept). The immediate crisis was thus sorted.

But where were the other 25+ jars? I rummaged on all the other pantry shelves. Nope. Pantry cupboards? Kitchen cupboards? Nope. Eventually I found a box filled with Marmite jars in the cool store. Of course.

I had the cleaning bug the rest of the day. Everywhere is sparkling this evening.
