Wake Up Time

Warm(ish) and sunny day? Check.
Dry roads? Check
MOT due? Check
Time to rouse the bike from its winter slumbers. It has sat in the garage since last September. Under a cover and plugged into a trickle charger, it hasn’t been looked at, never mind started for six months.
I needn’t have worried. It fired up first press of the button and a short test ride confirmed everything was working as it should. A precautionary stop at a nearby garage to check the tyre pressures (only a couple of psi required in each) and I went off for a decent run. No fuelling issues, brakes were working well after the first couple of stops and handling (now the tyres were at the correct pressure) was certainly competent enough to cope with anything I would demand from it. Which, at my advanced age, means stable cornering with no drama. My days of hanging off and getting my knee down are long gone!
As there was nothing obviously apparent that would stop it passing an MOT, I finished my ride at Sapphire Motorcycles where I booked it in for a week today. As well as the compulsory MOT, I have asked them to carry out a mini service - change the oil, filter and brake fluid, adjust and lube the chain - and do a general safety check of everything else. That should see me right for another summer of motorcycling.
Slight detour on the way home to get a picture by the river, and then it was back in the garage before the sun went down and it got cold again.
Who knows, if this weather holds, I might even get out again over the weekend. I’m not holding my breath though…
