The Twisted Hazel: Corylus avellana ‘`Contorta’.

The golden yellow Catkins are Illuminated by the morning sun in today’s entry. More of this tree is shown in the extra.

This tree attracts bees, beneficial insects, butterflies/moths and other pollinators. It is a caterpillar food plant, has nectar rich flowers, provides shelter and habitat and has seeds for flowers.

This tree which is now fully grown at about six metres is just adjacent to our door entrance. 

Reassuringly it has no toxic effects.

As far as gardening work is concerned, I must start mowing the grass and tidying up the broken branches that have occurred over winter.
