Wild garlic time

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." Dickens Great Expectations

Wasn’t it just. One of those days you step outside in a t shirt having felt the sun through the window and scuttle back in to grab a coat.  Driving across to Winchester on Friday last week and looking at the big patches of wild garlic I realised I hadn’t picked any yet so after lunch with Kati and Andrew in East Meon, to see daughter Alice, V’s student at UCL we diverted to Frogmore and our usual patch.  Actually there is a still a lot of growth that hasn’t come through yet, everything is a bit behind last year.  I am sure I have posted this exact view before, I’ll go and check!  Yes, I have 21 March 2020, so just before lockdown was declared. It looked much bushier then.

I decided to make wild garlic hummus first off, one batch to freeze and one to eat this week.  It was very delicious. There aren’t many recipes for it on the internet but the ones there are all the same and very simple.
