The star of the party

We went to a St Patrick’s Day party hosted by a TV chef who we’ve got to know through friends.  It was an amazing evening full of well known faces, old friends but also interesting new people.  There was Irish music and singing and as you’d expect given the hostess amazing Irish food, oysters, crab cakes, Irish stew made from her mother’s recipe and this chocolate Guinness cake. Which was sublime. Cake refusers asked for a taste and then went back for a whole piece.

We got hideously lost getting there, realised we were approaching her instructions from the wrong direction and corrected.  So we arrived a bit late but it was great fun nonetheless

Cold start then sunny all day and when the wind dropped it warmed up. It was nice to be out in the garden planting out a few things and seeing what appears to have survived the winter, starting the annual war on the green alkanet and Spanish bluebells and getting the summer started.

Back at gone 1am which was a shock to the system, another road was closed for midnight repairs so we had to change our route but I don’t think it added much.
