Union Canal

Out early across town on the bicycle; the Mound to the Meadows, and along to the canal. Saw one swan just after the Viewforth bridge. Lots of rowers out in sculls. Worked the bike down the steps at the intersection with the Water of Leith; it was fairly dry, which means more traction on the wooden trench. Back along the Water path, past Saughton Park. Stopped for coffee at Roseburn Park.

Still cold for riding; insulated trousers, three top layers included padded wool, wool hat under helmet .. not too windy, only a few drips of rain, a fleeting glimpse of sun at the park. Return by the West end.

Afternoon walk to Inverleith via the farmers market; got cheese and apples. The swans there are building a nest; there was no nest there last year. Lots of tufted ducks diving, the Canada geese are back.
