Wire you insulate?

I should have had today off and just rested but Holz is only a couple of months away and I keep feeling there is too much to do to sit around reading.  First off was fixing yesterday's mistakes, once more delving into Fidra's guts, tightening things and bolting stuff back on.  It should now be ready for some bodywork to go back on.

But first, some minor electrickery.  After the nonsense with l'alternateur I'm installing a voltmeter on Fidra's dash, so I had to cut the meter's housing to shape, and then solder a length of extra wire on.  I discovered that past me, who had installed a spare power wire on Fidra for future me's accessorisation needs at the front of the bike, hadn't actually connected the hot end of the spare wire to anything, so I have to invent power to the voltmeter another way.  I have an idea for it but it's a bit extra faff.

After lunch I didn't have the time or enthusiasm for more wrenching, including bolting on the new exhaust to the Africa Twin, so Dad came round and we drove to B&Q for some supplies.  I wanted some steel plate and tube, but could only find the tube.  Back at mine to dump everything we then headed to Mum and Dad's for a carry out – just my usual because no-one here has heard of General Tso's Chicken – and it filled me up right proper.
