Testing my metal

After a slightly lazy breakfast I was busy painting the mythical replacement body panel again, and also the exhaust which was now nicely derusted. Then Dad arrived and we set to work on investigating Fidra's coolant leak. We couldn't see anything wrong, although a quick firing up showed it was definitely still leaking. Dad nipped home and returned with his fancy fibre optic camera and I poked and prodded and twisted and turned, trying to inspect everything deep in the bowels of the engine. Eventually I spotted a likely cause for the leak, a loose hose clamp and a slightly dislodged hose. But we couldn't reach it, so it was off with the entire throttle body assembly again, and five minutes to tighten things.

But I was so desperately tired that I made mistake after mistake. I forgot to tighten the tension bands that hold the bodies on. I trapped the air sensor wire under the air box , necessitating taking it off again. And now I'll have to do it yet again for the bands.

It was gone teatime by then. Dad went home, I made some tea and looked in on my neighbour's cats whom I'm feeding for a few days, had a hot shower and then flopped and listened to some music and flicked through my new book which I think completes the set from Paul Rabbitts.

More wrenching is needed tomorrow. I however need a holiday and a few days doing nothing.
