Not a bad location to do science. I'm here (across the road from Ucsd) at a cancer conference for the next few days (including Saturday!).
Now, it would be nice to be sure I am working on cancer. To date no one in the lab has robust evidence that we are working on an oncogene.
It amazes me how bad scientists communicate. No wonder people are scared of science. They seem to get so wrapped up in their special area of interest and assume that everyone knows as much of the surrounding subject areas as they do. I no way am I as knowledgable as I should be in some areas of research, but it's impossible to know everything about anything (as my boss seems to think we should).
Made the last 3 meeting of the first session this evening (after beginning work at 7:30am in the lab). Been back 3 times during the day to walk babe. I'm cream crackered. Back now for the plenary lecture. No doubt the entire worlds knowledge of p53 impossible compacted into 1 hour and 1000's PowerPoint slides.....
