A three game day!
One of my favourite days of the year - THREE rugby games! So we had to get out and about early. Archie and I went round the Links first thing. I'm still wearing those new shoes (I call them 'new' but I've had them for years) and walking in them no bother. Well, quite a lot of bother, but I'm soldiering on with them, thinking they're doing me good, making me work harder.
After breakfast, and a recce with JR, who was going into town with the full bag used coffee pods, and picking up another empty bag. We've just discovered this service in JL.
Archie and I set off the same way we did yesterday, but we missed out the cafe. It has been pointed out to me that a coffee and a pastry every day soon adds up to a ridiculous amount.
We stopped to watch the digging for a while, then walked down on the sunny side of the road. Archie didn't miss a beat. When we got to the Meadows, he was off the lead, rolling around and sniffing every lamp post happily. I saw my friend from yesterday who has the marvellous walking assistance thingie, and we sat and chatted for a while. She has a combi van too and goes camping. I like her.
As we crossed the grass, it became evident that Archie was too interested in the many groups of picknickers... so he had to go back on the lead. When we got to the next part of the grass, no pick-nickers, but a big noisy group of revellers. Proper revelling, too. Chucking around coloured dust. It must have been some celebration - I should have asked. I was busy taking photos (from behind the roped off area) and I was spotted. Several folk just waved, and several came rushing over to decorate Archie and I - it was fun He was back off the lead in the next bit, and I saw him going up to a chap who was flat out, sleeping, I didn’t want to shout at Archie, so I just watched… Archie went up to him and sniffed his face. He sat up and was delighted, saying what a lovely surprise that was!
I met a friend in the next part of the Links, and she didn't mention my facial decoration...
I was home in time for the first game. But the coffee machine wasn't working... I had to wait till JR was home to fix it (something to do with the plugs, which I can't reach).
JR is home and has settled down for the evening. I won't print what she said when she realised there was yet ANOTHER GAME ON!!! She thought she had avoided them all…
PS I have now looked it up: it’s the Hindu Festival of Colours.
