Erica darleyensis "Kramer's rote"
When we had the kitchen at the Lodge fitted Clickychick decided she wanted more matching draw liners. Sadly at the time they weren't in stock. Now they are so we made an impromptu dash up to Carlisle.
We decided to forsake the M6 and make our way home via a scenic route. So we headed west out of Carlisle, popped in to Dobbies looking for coffee and a blip. From there through Welton to join the Penrith Wigton road at that used to be "The String of Horses Goose Green". We headed towards Penrith and then cut off to go over Howe Hill to the back of Greystoke forest ad then home.
The blip is a hybrid heather. Hybrid between E carnea and E erigena, as its name suggests it is named after Darley Dale in Yorkshire. It forms clumps 60cm (24") by 75cm (30")
