Daffodils
At this time of year Kanyl always says "everybody has got Daffodils except me, mine aren't out yet". Then follows a discussion (mainly from me) on micro climates , flowering times of different varieties etc.
Today at the Lodge I saw what I consider a wonderful example of microclimates in action. There are three clumps of daffs, all self seeds so presumably all the same variety. There is roughly 3 yards between each clump so 6 yards in total. There is a difference in height above the car parking of around 6 feet from the lower to the upper.
What I am saying basically is that at first glance you would say they grow under the same conditions. The blip is of the clump at the bottom. The first extra the clump halfway up the slope and the last extra those at the top of the slope.
