The stunning view from Holehird

A momentous day. Our application for the property in Lorton was accepted and we take up the tenancy on 1st April although we will probably not be moving until May. Thank you to all of you who wished us well in our quest.

It’s a major milestone. We can now put the properties in Kent in the market and begin the search for our home in the Lakes. Exciting times.

We heard the news near the summit of Kentmere Pike late this afternoon. We let out a large whoop of joy. Kentmere Pike was the second Wainwright of the afternoon coming after Shipman Knotts and completed the Kentmere horseshoe or round having bagged the others on two previous occasions.

In the morning we visited Holehird gardens, highly recommended by Knotman2. It was amazing even this early in the year and the views were spectacular, it must be one of the best panoramic views in the Lakes. The guy who built the house there had the right idea.

The extras are another view from Holehird and a view of Kentmere.

We’ve been before, some 11 years ago with Doreen in a wheelchair so we’re only able to see the walled garden. This time we saw the whole lot. Susan wants to volunteer there. She was so very taken the whole place.

After coming down from Kentmere we called in at the Watermill Inn and Brewery at Ings. It is the home of the Windermere Brewery and they have an extensive selection of doggy named beers. It is a very dog friendly pub. We had a pint to celebrate today’s milestone news.
