Patterdale from Kirkstone
Thank you for all your congratulations and good wishes on yesterday’s news that we had secured a tenancy in Lorton for 6 months in the first instance. Very pleased too that many of you liked Holehird.
We’’ve driven south today, back to Kent in a buoyant mood as you can imagine having achieved our main objective. Getting somewhere to stay was a crucial milestone, now we can put both houses on the market and look for a place without the pressure usually associated with trying to coordinate buying and selling. Matters can now take their course.
We left Windermere driving north, not as you would expect south down the M6. We were planning to go to Rheged to see the Everest exhibition. However, as it was such a lovely morning we stopped short at Pooley Bridge to walk along Ullswater. And it was well worth it. A gentle loosener after yesterday’s hike up Kentmere. All except the coffee at Granny Dowbekins. £4.50 for a wishy washy beverage. We ought not have stayed!
Today’s blip is of Patterdale from near the Kirkstone Pass looking towards Brothers Water. Another of our many favourite views. The extra is one of the views from the apartment, looking west early this morning.
Arrived safely back in Kent after an uneventful drive. Stopped off at Mainsgill for a late lunch and were enchanted by hordes of gambolling lambs, some only minutes old in the farm’s lambing shed.
Thank you for all your comments while we’ve been on the roadtrip. I’ve another, longer trip on Thursday….
