Panorama from Barf
As is our nature we packed a lot in today. Starting with a visit to Keswick to complete and hand in our application the flat in Lorton which we filled in over a coffee and scone in Java on the Main Street.
We then drove over to Cockermouth to have a stroll around the town, up to the Castle and along the river. Enjoyed the town very much indeed. Didn’t bump into the Earthy’s though. They had a lucky escape.
By the time we’d had lunch and driven to Whinlatter it was 3.00pm, just enough time to trot up to Lords Seat and Barf (what a curious name!) for two more ticks. Both rewarded the effort of dragging up through the Stygian forest by giving panoramic 360 degree views over the northern lakes and fells and the Solway Firth. The main blip is a panorama from Barf across to Skiddaw, Keswick and Derwentwater.
The extras are a views west through a shower and north to Binsey over Bassenthwaite Lake. There were plenty of sharp showers around most of the day, we were lucky to have dodged them all.
Fingers crossed that our application is successful.
