Archie has a narrow escape!
Today we were meeting up with a couple of ex-colleagues of mine for lunch at the Black Ivy, our local hotel/pub. It's dog friendly, so no need for an alternative arrangement for Archie - he could come too!
But then he got a better offer! J & A texted asking if Archie could come out with them sometime today, morning or afternoon... 'Yes Please!!' (said Archie) He's not that pleased to have to put up with the din in the restaurant. Neither am I, as a matter of fact. It was pretty busy, but there would not have been a person under the age of 50. No, 60 - No, 65... and yet the soundtrack was screeching twanging pop music, with the occasional respite of a Paul Simon track (YES!)
So we met Archie's friends in the park for the handover and off they went. And off we went to the restaurant, dog-less. He had a MUCH nicer time with his pals than with us.
We had a lovely lunch, then they came back home for a G&T. The dog walkers also arrived, and we had a very pleasant afternoon. G&Ts were flowing, with our special ginormous ice cubes made of tonic, a nifty trick we learned from Christine on our last visit.
