Waiting
I found the appointment last Friday and went to the doctor this afternoon about my cough. The cold that came on over the weekend has started to ease, but the extra cough it brought has not. I got to the surgery with a bit of time and found the waiting room not very busy. I didn’t have a face mask and was coughing, so I felt terrible, but I found a space in the corner away from other people. After a few tests with the doctor, it was concluded I’d need an X-ray and some blood tests.
I got a cancellation appointment for the blood tests on Wednesday, but the X-ray is a walk-up at the clinic down the road. At just after 4 pm, after I’d had my last meeting of the day, and knowing the cut-off time was 5 pm, I walked down to the clinic in the hope they’d be able to see me. After I’d checked in, I was amazed to find an empty waiting room. I was called in after a few minutes, and the whole thing, including a stop-off for a Costa coffee on the walk back, took under an hour from leaving to getting back home. It’s been my lucky day.
