Bond night
The cold that I have—might be retreating. I had a lazy day at home doing a few chores before we left to meet Mark in central London. Due to engineering works, we took a replacement bus to Wimbledon and then a District Line service to Westminster, from where we walked to Piccadilly Circus and Dirty Bones.
We arrived first and sat at the table we’d been given. At first, I wondered why customers were walking to the kitchen. It took me a few minutes to realise the bookcase in the corner was a concealed door heading to the toilet. Nice. When Mark arrived, we ordered. I went to for the OG Chicken Burger (£13): Crispy koji & buttermilk fried chicken topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. I added some fries. It was delicious.
As we got to 7pm, we walked across the road to The Crazy Coqs for our first visit of the year, the “West End Sings Bond ... James Bond”. The show opened with Licence to Kill, which is, IMHO, the best Bond theme of all. The great thing about Bond Nights is that all the songs are well known - and really great - but they are sufficient to ensure you can be surprised by those selected. The picture is from the group number at the end of the night, Live and Let Die.
After the show, we tried to find a nearby pub with seats, but we couldn’t find one. In the end, we returned to The American Bar for a couple of drinks.
