Fabulous Foursome

An early start to walk the 45 mins to be part of a small focus group (10 of us) looking at end of life care for cancer patients. Each of us had journeyed with someone, but for the others it was their partner they'd lost (so many widow/ers my age). It was deeply moving hearing people's experiences, and how let down they'd been by the system and how much extra trauma they'd got because of little to no spiritual and emotional support. I'd been invited to share my experience journeying with Stuart. My friend is beginning a pilot project providing end of life doula style care for the patient and family, and today was to help give info about what is needed. Hearing some people's stories was truly profound.
I rushed home to cook lunch for friends who were over, but as the group had gone well over the time, they arrived before I did!! They were gracious and OK with a very late lunch!!
The kids all hit it off really well. The girls mooched round the shops together, started an art project, nattered. Gorgeous to see. This family are part of Lighthouse church.
They left after 7, I've flopped into bed.

Today I'm grateful for;
1) Hearing people's stories of their loved ones last days and hours. And I'm so SO proud of my friend for this project and the immense impact it will have on how people experience that journey to end of life. So proud of her. And so glad and honoured to be involved.
2) Nathalie and Steven being gracious re nothing being ready when they arrived.
3) The girls getting on so well.
