The Deadwood Stage
A better morning today, fairly bright though overcast. Seemed like a good day to work outside so I decided to put the various partly built sections of my greenhouse staging together. I’ve got a load of spare wood under the house, left over from other jobs, so didn’t need to buy any. All I have to do now is to cut slats to go over the top, then give it a coat of wood preservative. Good to work outside without a jacket on! When I went in to lunch I somehow managed to push the staging into the greenhouse just in case the weather changed - I couldn’t pull it in or I wouldn’t have got out!
I came indoors for something or other and was having a moan about my new chair, which was delivered last week. It seems comfortable enough, but I was convinced that it was very slightly lopsided. The footstool was also slightly lopsided, as was the one at the shop. I was rather suspicious that my chair was the one from the showroom, sat in by numerous bums! The reclining mechanism was beginning to make odd noises too, and MrsM persuaded me to go back to the shop. There was nobody in the showroom when I arrived so I went over to where the chair had been - and there was a space! The saleslady spoke to the delivery men, but nobody was admitting to anything, though now the chair will be collected tomorrow morning and a new one ordered! Naughty!
After lunch I began to cut slats for the staging top. I hadn’t got that far when it began to rain, so eventually I gave up, shoved it back in the greenhouse and came indoors.
A good evening yesterday at the Writing Group. Some of the participants read out some of their favourite poetry, and others, me included, read some of our own creations. I joined the group - they meet one evening a month at the library. I hardly need to join though - I write enough for my daily Blip!
