Spring nature walk

It was another gloriously sunny day today, so I was keen to get Smithers to join me on a walk on the Green, even though it entails quite an uphill  struggle on his part to get there. However, he was willing to give it a go, but we took with us his sunglasses as a precaution because he finds bright sunlight very difficult since his cataract operation. However, the sunglasses have his old pre-cataract operation prescription lenses, so he could see very little through them but they were great at eliminating the glare.

We walked up the hill to the Green with me holding his hand to guide him, and he managed the hill very well. We then continued along Warner’s Path, which was busy with parents walking to collect their children from school (several of them texting or talking on their phones as they went, not looking where they were going) and, by the time we turned round to walk back, there were lots of children scootering back along the path very fast and quite recklessly, heading straight for us and I had to protect Smithers from being mown down.

Despite all that we enjoyed the walk, and I loved seeing all the signs of spring, especially the fat sticky buds on the horse chestnut trees.
