A time for everything

Our annual hike on the Malverns!

Tuesday
Since we knew we would be suffering from jet lag, we’d agreed with Janet it would be best for her to have her breakfast first, as she is more of an early riser anyway, and we would have ours whenever we woke up. I was up around 9.15, but Roger was at least another hour before he appeared! When I first got up it was a clear blue sky, but by this time, some clouds had moved in. Whenever we visit Janet, we always have a walk on the nearby Malvern Hills, so once we had both finally had breakfast, that was where we headed. At one time Janet would have joined us, but nowadays, at 82, she feels past her climbing hills days. Even I wasn’t feeling overly energetic today and avoided the big climbs, and settled for the path that runs along the side. We enjoyed a mixture of sun and clouds, and the visibility was pretty good. We went back to Janet’s for a late lunch, then since it was still fine, we decided to go back for some more, starting more or less where we finished this morning. We encountered both sheep and cattle on our hike, and enjoyed a pretty sunset forming on our return.
In the evening after dinner, the three of us played Boggle, with Janet soundly beating us - she has the advantage of playing Boggle once a month with a group of ladies, so gets more practice than we do!
