Bromfield

After a pleasing walk along the avenue at Oakly Park, Hollie dog and I went to have a mooch around the Parish Church Of St Mary The Virgin, Bromfield.

It is a lovely church, on the site of a dissolved Benedictine Priory. The history of worship at the site goes back to the 11th century, but the buildings have seen many changes and additions down the years.

My main blip shows the fine stained glass window by CE Kempe of London, dominating the west wall.

I have included in extras a picture of the interior and exterior together with a shot of the Priory Gatehouse which originates from the 14th century. It has served as a courthouse and school rooms, but is now a holiday let managed by the Landmark Trust.

Best viewed large.

A nice end to a very nice day.
