The good life

Day 7

We woke to another jumper-weather day, ate a breakfast of pain au chocolat, tea and banana and set off. We soon passed through the first of many quaint villages, as we winded our way south down the coast. As in the previous days, the cycle lanes were brilliantly wide and the directions very easy to follow.

We stopped for a lunch of savoury and sweet crepes in Hindeloopen, has a look around the marina and headed onwards. We went past the red Klif - a site marking Friesland's victory against William IV and Holland in 1345 - accidentally got overtaken by some grannies, pedalled hard to catch up and arrived at our beautiful campsite just after 6pm outside Wijckel. We got a special place to ourselves, away from the campervans and currounded by brilliant yellow flowers and grazing ponies. Then, just to top it all off, they gave us some cold beers.
