Texel beach huts
Day 6
We woke up to rain and waited a little until it stopped and our tent dried off. After learning that we couldn't make it over to Vlieland for another day and a half we abandoned our Frisian Island route and headed for Friseland instead.
This consisted of cycling from Den Helder to Den Oever and then over the 20 mile-long Afsluitdijk (dyke). I got a little sunblinded and C cycled over something. I assured him he hadn't and that he'd brushed his bottle and urged him to continue. Then he realised his bag was open so we cycled back and found the contents of his wallet strewn all over the cycle path. I saved my picture and some of his cards and we carried on.
I was so glad to get to our lovely little campsite just outside Harlingen. It was a converted farm but the cowshed had been left untouched and we listened to its history and stories of naughty goats stealing strawberries from the owner.
We put up our Hoolie (tent) and cycled into Harlingen. I'm sorry to say we didn't really have an eye for it - only the food in the supermarket. We bought some stuff, cycled back, cooked a delicious stir-fry, made a cup of tea and went to bed.
