Over west again

I was over in Glasgow, taking Ant the cat for a vet check up with Tim, before we then headed to see Liz in Gartnavel Hospital in the north west of the city. I was lucky in that I got a parking space pretty quickly, which is highly unusual. Last time it took me over half an hour. It’s just a luck or unlucky thing, and today, I was lucky.

Today’s blip is what was previously built as Clarkston Church of Scotland church, built in 1941, to serve the burgeoning suburbs of south Glasgow. The Bas relief of the Pelican on south front is the only adornment.

Due to a falling congregation, the church was deconsecrated in 2022 and is now the Masid Yusuf mosque and community centre. The building is at the end of the street where my grandparents lived and where my mum was born (see extra), just before the beginning of World War 2. Liz and Tim’s house is just a couple of streets away.

A day of memories as well as rushing around.

I hope you have enjoyed today.
