Trapper Girl - Eight Years On

Miss L loves coming to the car boot sale to find treasures - both for herself and to sell on. She’s definitely her mother’s daughter!
She found this hat this morning and was giddy with it. I showed her this which doesn’t seem like eight years ago!
We had a weird incident when we got to the car boot sale. I generally get out of the car where the lines of cars are while Mr K carries on to the arse end of nowhere to park the car. He always likes me to leap out at top speed so as not to inconvenience anyone behind us. Rolls eyes.
So I often get out, coat half on, phone in hand, money in other hand, bags flapping all over the place and generally looking like I’ve just fallen out of a moving train!
This morning Miss L got out with me as she was late to meet her friend. As we walked down the first row I patted all my pockets and realised I must have left my phone in the car.
We were stood in the middle of the row getting in everyone’s way. A very focused unblinking total weirdo man came up to us. Thinking we were in his way I said sorry and pulled Miss L off to the side. He sidestepped with us, still staring and being a total weirdo.
“Do you have a phone?” he asked portentously.
I said I did, that was what I was just checking and I couldn’t find it.
“So. Do you have a phone?” he asked again. Like some Dickensian undertaker.
I said - quite shortly - that I didn’t have it on me, I must have left it in the car.
Now could you fuck off and stop being so weird!!!!
“So you have a phone……..”
OMFG
“Now. I’ve found a phone…….”
I could tell he was going to carry on for a while so I interrupted him and said “Great! The screensaver is stars and planets.”
I suspected he would have preferred a full run down of every single app on the phone, photographic proof of identity and perhaps a DNA test. But he had to be content with me tapping it, seeing the stars and planets, saying “yes, that’s it!!”, and plucking it from his hand.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly grateful he found it - it must have dropped off my knee when Mr K shoved me from the moving car - but he didn’t have to be quite so weird!!!!
“Hi, have you lost your phone? I’ve just found one. Is this yours? Can you describe the Lock Screen”
It’s not difficult!!!
I thanked him profusely and then was glad to get away from him!
Miss L disappeared off, and we met my mum and dad just about to leave. My dad had his arm twisted to stay and have breakfast baps and a coffee with Mr K.
I got a few bits to sell, not much - I’m trying to be more discerning and go for quality and higher profit rather than quantity.
I did buy myself a fabulous original Cunard advertising print showing the original Queen Elizabeth. Not the usual thing I’d have on the wall but I fell in love with it. It cost £3. Someone on eBay’s selling the exact same one for £175!!!!!!
The rest of the day was spent gardening. I told Mr K earlier in the week that we were doing it today as the forecast was good. It was the last thing either of us felt like but out we went with secateurs, loppers, rakes, shovels and shears. Two trips to the dump, a full garden waste bin and it’s a tiny bit transformed. Still a long way to go - we did nothing last year and haven’t been out there since October! - but it looks so much better, especially the front.
That was me done for the day. Covered in scratches and welts and knackered I went to bed at 7.30 much to the bemusement of the Little Misses.
I suspect I was asleep by 7.35!
