Battersea Light Festival 2025
We didn't do much this morning, although the bacon sandwiches PY made using some cheesy bread he picked up last night were delicious. They were lovely big 'doorstep' sandwiches and very satisfying. The rest of the day at home was considerably less satisfying: I didn't get much done.
At about 4:30 pm, we headed out to catch a train to Battersea. Then we walked to the Power Station complex, where it was the final night of the 2025 light festival: another location with a free interactive art trail probably designed to get people out of their homes on dark winter evenings to spend some money. The festival's web page seems to have more information about the eating and drinking experiences than it does about the art.
My favourite was the first installation we encountered, Spin Me a Yarn by Studio Vertigo: the pink neon worked well in the twilight and, later, after it got appropriately dark. In Bloom, the interactive sound and light sculpture, was fun, but while I could trigger the lights to change, I am not sure I was having any impact on the sound. The indoor installations in the Power Station itself were a bit lost in front of the lights from the shops.
On the way back, I bought two coffees and two cakes from Black Sheep, totalling £15. So, I think the attraction made us spend some money. At least dinner was cheap; it was the remnants of the Chinese takeaway purchased earlier in the week. I spent most of the evening reading.
