Luminous

At about 4:45 pm, we were standing on the wet and windy platform at Raynes Park, waiting for a (delayed) train to take us to Waterloo, from where we walked to St Paul's Cathedral. We met Phil and Wei in The Paternoster pub for a drink before joining the Luminous queue at the Cathedral.

Luminous is a sound and light show that takes over the inside of the Cathedral. It uses aspects of the Cathedral's history and archive to create an immersive sound and light experience. There is some very clever use of projection on different surfaces that seem to tell the story of the building. Most impressive is the projection on the inside of the dome; a few seats are positioned so you can look upwards and see the entire shape filled with a moving light show. We also got to visit the crypt, which I hadn't ever done before, and that too was lit with multi-coloured bulbs—another incredible evening of light.
