The morning walk
Gavin got home from the hospital at about 8pm last night. As he is fortunate to have private medical insurance he was operated on in a private hospital in London, and he said he was not sure if he was in a hospital or a fancy hotel, his room had a selection of toiletries and he had a menu from which to choose his post surgery meal. For a routine surgery as he had, it was very pleasant to be in such a hospital.
He did not have much pain last night but I did wonder how he would sleep as he had a umbilical hernia repair on his belly and also a cyst removed from his back so both his front and back had dressings and were not easy to sleep on. This morning he felt okay and decided not to avail himself of the opioids he was given for pain relief - like him I think one needs to get the body as free of chemicals as soon as possible to heal quickly. He has not had pain but just some discomfort.
After breakfast we went for a walk in the woods with Xena when I took this photo. All went well until a dog jumped up against Gavin right on his hernia wound - ouch!
We met up with our friend S for lunch today, she sadly lost her husband, a good friend of ours, in the summer but is doing well so far. We had a very pleasant lunch - I had a light tuna salad - as we are also going out to other friends for dinner tonight.
I have just had a long conversation with Tommy while he was running around Munich, in the wild parkland area near Allianz stadium and the home of FC Bayern Munich. He is enjoying living in Munich but spends a fair amount of time back here in the UK as he is also able to work from here.
I am looking forward to going to our friends tonight for dinner, I know she is making Indian food which will be delicious.
If you are interested I have loaded some of my Scottish Highland photos here.
